Just an idea, but why not write the guide in markdown, which many developers are familiar with, and publish the docs online as HTML to make things easier?

If PDF is a valued output, there are also markdown-to-pdf tools.

After renovating the wiki, I want to put the doc on the main page as an HTML page. I see the similar things at some wikis. Nevertheless, we should keep continuing the Lyx for offline documentation. Thank you for your idea.
