Hi, the last update just pulled a new 430Mo cursor theme (bibata-cursor-theme) as a dependency to this package.

…Why ? Put a side the fact that this "new default" cursor theme looks horrible to me (just my taste maybe), this is irresponsible to add half a gig to current users' installation. This is not even an optional dependency: this is a hard dependency…

Could you please remove bibata-cursor-theme from the dependencies of this package ?

First and foremost, I want to preface this with a recognition that I appreciate the work that you and other volunteers have put in Manjaro. I'm a daily user for work, and it is my favorite OS.

That being said, reducing package size is not the real fix for this. The fact that you like the pointer is nice. The fact that you made it available is fantastic. The fact that it is now a hard dependency of the settings is what we'd like to be fixed.

The topic of this issue is the large size of the package, so I addressed it.

With all editions, we set a custom default cursor theme which must be a hard dependency.

Linux Mint also is using Bibata as the default cursor theme now as part of their mint-cursor-themes package. The installed size is 390 MB. I don't know whether there is any user feedback about that or not.

If more users are unhappy with the change from Breeze to Bibata, I will consider reverting it.

So you're right that size is definitely part of the problem. The ideal scenario is for the hard dependency to go, but if one needs to be kept, maybe the default shouldn't be a cursor theme that is 1 to 3 orders of magnitude larger than alternatives. There are cursor themes that are half a MB, and this one is a quarter of a GB. I'm sure there are very good reasons for the size (I know very little about cursors), but it's much less of a problem to have a default you can't uninstall if it's a couple of MB.
