    This release is a bug fix release.

    It fixes an issue where the reset functions --country all and --interactive --default would always return CDN mirrors (labelled Global).

    Only the reset function was affected by the bug.

    BUGFIX: Refactor check_internet_connection().

    The connection check would end prematurely before all hosts were checked. The bug was never triggered until 2025-09-30 when our NetworkManager ping domain went offline.

    To correctly check all hosts before returning failure, the check accumulates error messages for display when the loop ends and False can be returned.

    Bump version to 5.2.1. Update documentation and data files to reflect the latest features and configuration adjustments.

    Country selection logic

    The country selection logic for the -z/--timezone argument has been improved.

    The logic will use in descending order

    1. country name extracted from the system's timezone
    2. Fallback to continent when applicable.
    3. Fallback to CDN when applicable.
    4. Fallback to the official mirror ppol.

    Changes

    • Due to a conflict with the -t/--timeout argument - the short timezone argument has changed to -z.
    • Enhance mirror list generation logic, including better handling for timezone and continent-based selections, providing fallback where applicable.
    • Removed --geoip and updated documentation to match.
    • Update CLI argument names and help texts for improved clarity.
    • Refactor and standardize naming conventions for method parameters (maxwait to timeout) across various HTTP and FTP functions.

    Refactor internal to use the system's configured timezone GEO location.

    Instead of an IP location service the python timezone library (pytz) is used.

    New dependency required python-pytz

    Internet connection check created unwanted messages with --country-config argument used by mdd.

    The function had an overhaul and at the same time the main run() has been reordered to only run internet check after handling the initial commandline parsing.

    This is release to fix issue #195 where setting the branch on aarch 64 incorrectly result in an error message and application terminated due to with a non-zero exit code.

    This error prevented CI from finishing successfully.
